Andrew Amos, Tvshka Homma Stickball
Nineteen-year-old Andrew Amos runs for a pass in a co-ed practice game of ishtaboli (stickball) in Durant, Oklahoma in September 2020. A member of Tvshka Homma, the Choctaw Nation's men's team, Amos has played since he was seven– in contrast with previous generations, which faced government efforts to suppress the game and other expressions of Native American culture. Players are in constant motion and wear no padding, no helmets, no gloves, and, sometimes, no shoes.
