MUSHERS-017
An aerial view of Jessica Klejka's dog team training around a frozen lake in Wasilla, AK. "I won the Junior Iditarod when I was in high school. My biggest concern [about the Iditarod] is sleep deprivation and eating. After the dogs are cared for, I make sure I’m hydrated, I eat, and I pack the sled with supplies for our next run and then try to get in a nap. During a typical four-hour layover, a musher usually gets about an hour of sleep."
